I want to assist the Executive Board Members in how the Cabin is managed to assure that revenue and costs are sustainable so that future generations/members will enjoy everything that makes the Cabin great! There have been some big challenges the past few years and I have the time, energy, and business expertise to add real value to the Leadership Team -- I’m good with numbers/excel, can help promote the Cabin and its events/fundraising through marketing campaigns, and have experience with company back-of-house operations.…all areas that could use some help.

I also want to improve the transparency between the Board and Members so that all feel connected to the Cabin, its issues and the solutions. It’s the members that own the cabin, so we need the most transparent communication possible.

I believe it’s time for some new ideas and expertise on the Board.

I hope to earn your vote!

Bob McCaughin
Incumbent

 My name is Bob McCaughin,
I have been a Cabin member for 14 years, and I am on the E –Board. I am looking for your support in the upcoming election. I live in Margate full time and I’m the owner and General Contractor of M C Construction and Remodeling.

After my appointment to the E -Board, I have the responsibility of managing the door men. When the outside bar is open, scheduling and door closures are necessary every week. I became involved with the board to make changes in the kitchen. Pete Breitinger and I formed a kitchen managing team and some tough decisions were made. Still active in the kitchen, I am shopping at three locations 1 – 2 times a week, keeping inventory of supplies, accounting for the daily dinner receipts and scheduling services as needed.

The Cabin has always had a pool league, and I ran it for the last eight years until Covid closed us down. Now, with the help of Diane Rando, I restarted the Cabin Pool League, and it is up and running.

Other work included me and a few volunteers to redo the front deck. The deck was reframed, wood deck boards and railings were removed and replaced with vinyl. The ramp at the rear door was also reframed and wood boards removed and replaced with vinyl. I intend to remove and replace wood railings with vinyl in the Spring.

Before the E – Board appointment, I was project manager for the major construction work on the Cabin and the roof during 2022. I oversaw all aspects, including many inherited challenges and unforeseen issues. The project moved along smoothly and was completed in a timely manner. I am now “Semi Retired”. I use some of this free time to carry out all of the responsibilities of being an E – Board member.

I would appreciate your vote!

Sincerely,

Bob McCaughin
